Corral de la Morería

Over the years, Corral de la Morería has welcomed more than five million visitors and has been the setting for some of the most memorable evenings in Madrid’s recent history, with legendary artists such as Paco de Lucía performing there in the early years of their careers.

In 2026, Corral de la Morería celebrates its 70th anniversary. It was founded on 20 May 1956 by Manuel del Rey with an idea that was revolutionary at the time: to present flamenco as a major art form in an intimate, contemporary setting. Its name pays tribute to the traditional corrales of Madrid’s La Morería neighbourhood—working-class residential buildings arranged around a shared courtyard that shaped everyday life in the 19th century, just beside the Royal Palace. Today, the venue is led by Juan Manuel and Armando del Rey, sons of Manuel and Blanca del Rey, the acclaimed flamenco dancer and choreographer who has long overseen its artistic direction and remains one of the most influential figures in the history of Spanish flamenco.

What sets Corral de la Morería apart from any other tablao in the world is that excellence extends far beyond the stage. Since 2018, its gastronomic restaurant has held one Michelin Star, making it the only flamenco tablao in the world with this distinction. At the helm is Basque chef David García, who trained under Martín Berasategui.

Serving just eight guests, the restaurant offers an exclusive tasting experience through its Compás menu, named after the rhythmic structure that underpins every flamenco performance. Just as compás provides the heartbeat of flamenco, García uses it as the guiding principle behind each course. Rooted in Basque culinary tradition, the menu celebrates exceptional seafood, deeply flavoured stocks and broths, and is complemented by one of the world's finest collections of Sherry wines.

The result is an experience in which gastronomy and flamenco move to the same rhythm: first at the table, then before the stage—both crafted with the same precision, artistry and passion.
