The Lion King
Book hereSince October 2011, Madrid's Lope de Vega Theatre, located on the iconic Gran Vía, has been home to the Spanish production of The Lion King, the acclaimed musical that has captivated more than 124 million spectators worldwide. In Madrid alone, it has sold over seven million tickets across more than 5,500 performances. Spain was the first Spanish-speaking country to host this production, which is performed exclusively at this theatre.
The show is the work of an outstanding creative team. Director and designer Julie Taymor created a groundbreaking production that blends African, Western and Asian theatrical traditions. The music features songs by Elton John and Tim Rice, while the original score was composed by Hans Zimmer and Lebo M. Since its Broadway premiere in 1997, the production has received more than 70 international awards.
What makes the Madrid production especially remarkable is its longevity. Now in its 15th season, it features a cast of more than 50 performers from around the world. Performances take place from Wednesday to Sunday, with tickets starting at €27.
