The Neighbourhood Hosting the Spanish Grand Prix
To the northeast of Madrid, between Adolfo Suárez Madrid–Barajas Airport and IFEMA Madrid, Valdebebas is one of the capital’s newest and most ambitious urban developments. Designed from the ground up, the neighbourhood features wide tree-lined avenues, contemporary architecture, schools, sports facilities and one of the largest green spaces in the city. In September 2026, its streets will become the stage for the Spanish Formula 1 Grand Prix, as the MADRING circuit winds its way for more than five kilometres through the neighbourhood, placing Valdebebas at the heart of the event. Whether you're staying in the area during race weekend or simply looking to explore this modern side of Madrid, here are our top recommendations.

GASTRONOMY
Divina Locura: If you're looking for a standout dining destination in the neighbourhood, Divina Locura is the place to go. The restaurant offers three distinct settings—a dining room, a lively bar and an outdoor terrace—alongside a menu rooted in Spanish and Mediterranean cuisine, prepared with fresh ingredients and meticulous attention to detail. Its mushroom cannelloni, oxtail rice and turbot are among the most celebrated dishes. Yet one of the main reasons guests return is the service: warm, attentive and genuinely personal—the kind of hospitality that turns a meal into a memorable experience.
La Savina: Jorge Baeza grew up in the kitchens of Arrocería Balear in Pozuelo, the family business that at one point operated seven restaurants across Madrid. When he decided to open his own restaurant, he chose Valdebebas and focused on what he knows best: rice. La Savina is a Balearic-inspired rice restaurant that showcases Mediterranean ingredients with refined technique and deep respect for the quality of the produce. One of its must-try dishes is the Russian salad, which was awarded Best Russian Salad in the Community of Madrid in 2025. Made with roasted potatoes and a mayonnaise emulsified with pickling liquid, it perfectly reflects the restaurant’s philosophy: seemingly simple dishes underpinned by meticulous craftsmanship. It is an excellent choice for a leisurely lunch, where the food is just as enjoyable as the long conversation that follows.
Maison Umami: “Maison” means home in French, while “Umami” refers to the fifth taste in Japanese, often associated with balance and depth of flavour. Designed by Marisa Gallo, the restaurant combines high ceilings, floor-to-ceiling windows, lush greenery and velvet textures in an interior that seamlessly blends French colonial elegance with Asian influences. At the helm of the kitchen is Chef Jinzhong Zhao, originally from China, whose extensive culinary career is reflected in a menu that brings together Chinese cuisine, Japanese sushi, Thai specialities and a selection of original Maison creations. The Peking duck, chicken and seafood kubak, dim sum and the tuna Crunch Roll are among the dishes most frequently ordered. Offering refined Asian cuisine at a remarkably accessible price point, Maison Umami has established itself as one of Valdebebas' most acclaimed restaurant openings since its debut in 2022.
QÁLIDO: Seasonal Mediterranean cuisine with a focus on charcoal grilling and modern techniques that have elevated the dining scene beyond what the neighbourhood offered when it first opened. The menu changes according to the season and the chef’s vision, combining traditional foundations with international influences. Highlights include the duck gyozas with sweet and spicy notes, sea bass ceviche and carabinero croquettes. The standout dessert is the Idiazábal cheesecake, known for its intense flavour and distinctive character in a city where this dessert has become increasingly popular. With a contemporary atmosphere and a covered terrace available throughout the year, it is one of our recommended choices for a group dinner, especially for those staying in the area during the Formula 1 Grand Prix weekend.
Restobar 1966: For decades, Pilar Vila was at the helm of Casa d’a Troya, one of Madrid’s most beloved Galician restaurants. When she retired and the original establishment closed, her children and nephew decided that its legacy could not disappear. They opened Restobar 1966 in Valdebebas, taking the founding year of the original restaurant as its name and preserving the same philosophy as its starting point: authentic Galician cuisine centred on quality ingredients, family recipes and warm hospitality that makes guests feel at home. The menu remains faithful to the pillars of Galician cooking, celebrating both the sea and the land with seafood, fresh fish, meats and slow-cooked traditional dishes prepared with the patience this cuisine demands. Rather than reinventing itself, the project is about preserving what has always worked. For visitors coming from abroad, it offers a wonderful opportunity to discover the flavours and traditions of northwestern Spain without leaving the Madrid region.

PLANS
Valdebebas-Felipe VI Forest Park and Princesa Leonor Park: For those looking to take a break between race sessions, Madrid holds a natural escape just minutes from Valdebebas. Right next to the circuit, Valdebebas-Felipe VI Forest Park offers kilometres of trails, native wildlife and an immersion into the landscapes of central Spain without leaving the city.
Together, the two parks cover almost 550 hectares of green space, making them the second-largest natural area in Madrid, after Casa de Campo. Felipe VI Park was designed by landscape architect Andrés Perea, inspired by the shape of a tree: the main paths form the trunk and branches, a structure that becomes clear when viewed from above. Opened in 2015 on former landfill sites, rubble areas and abandoned farmland, it has been transformed into one of the city’s most important green lungs.
Walking through the park is a way of discovering the natural geography of central Spain without leaving Madrid. Its five recreated ecosystems—the Iberian System, Montes de Toledo, Central System, La Alcarria and La Mancha—are distributed across different areas, each with its own native vegetation: holm oaks, oak trees, junipers, pines, rockroses and thyme, changing in character as the trails unfold. The Laberinto, a wooden spiral structure rising towards a viewpoint, offers panoramic views of the Sierra de Guadarrama and Madrid’s skyline. The Arboretum, with its five islands of different plant formations, is one of the park’s most photogenic areas. The Terraces descend through landscaped platforms towards the artificial river, which runs from north to south between open meadows where it is common to spot hares, foxes, birds of prey and a remarkable colony of waterfowl around the two internal lagoons. With 32 kilometres of walking trails and 5 kilometres of cycle paths, the park adapts to every pace: early-morning runners, families enjoying a Sunday outdoors and visitors looking to disconnect between race sessions.
Opened in 2023, Princesa Leonor Park adds a further 78 hectares of adjacent agroforestry landscape, with viewpoints overlooking Madrid’s skyline. For those travelling from abroad for the Grand Prix, it is also a place to find a moment of calm before the sound of the engines returns.
Sideral Rooftop: Sideral occupies the rooftop of the four-star INNSiDE by Meliá Valdebebas, a hotel that opened in 2024 with a strong focus on design and local art. Sculptures and murals by Rubén Sánchez, together with works by the illustration duo Cachetejack, are displayed throughout its interiors. From Sideral’s terrace, the views stretch across Felipe VI Forest Park in the foreground, with IFEMA Madrid, Real Madrid City, the Riyadh Air Metropolitano Stadium, the Cuatro Torres business district and, on clear days, the Guadarrama Mountains on the horizon. Open to both hotel guests and visitors, the rooftop bar serves cocktails and a carefully curated drinks menu in a stylish open-air setting. For those looking to end the day on a high note, Sideral is the perfect place to enjoy Madrid’s sunset.
Belle Pop: With a versatile main venue and a professional sound system designed to put music centre stage, Belle Pop is the perfect place for a night out in Valdebebas. From midnight on weekends, it hosts live concerts featuring bands performing Spanish and international pop and rock classics, creating an atmosphere where guests inevitably end up singing and dancing along. For those looking to extend the evening after a day at the races, Belle Pop offers live music, a lively atmosphere and, once the concert is over, a DJ who keeps the energy going well into the early hours.
